Join the Beacon Hill Garden Club and Seattle Tree Ambassadors on Saturday, April 23rd from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. We will be doing some general clean up, weeding, and mulching at the Bayview Triangle (Beacon Ave S & 15th Ave S by the Shell Station). Check out the progress on our Pollinator Garden. We will also be setting up our mason bee house and putting out the bees for the spring. Everyone is welcome to join us! Dress for the weather and to get dirty. We will provide tools, gloves and snacks. Our master gardener had a great tip for how to stay warm when out in the windy and rainy PNW garden. Before putting on your regular garden gloves, pull on a pair of latex disposable gloves first. It keeps your fingers from getting wet and subsequently cold. We tried it out at our Pollinator Work party and it worked great!
Who: Sponsored by the Beacon Hill Garden Club and the City of Seattle Tree Ambassadors
What: Join us for a work party where we will be picking up trash, weeding, and planting a new pollinator garden. All are welcome, rain or shine! We will provide tools and gloves, dress for the weather. Please RSVP so we can have enough hot cocoa for everyone! Where: Bayview Triangle (15th Ave S. & Beacon Ave S. by the Shell station) When: Sunday, December 13th from 10 am - 2pm Why: Pollinators, such as bees, butterflies, hummingbirds are important to our food system. One of every four bites of food we eat or beverages we drink are directly because of pollinators. Pollinators, especially bees, are declining. There are many factors but loss of habitat in an urban environment is one. This garden provides a oasis of plants beneficial to pollinators. Thank you to the King Conservation District for providing funding for the plants! A few photos from the October 3rd Work Party. A small but mighty group cleared trash and filled at least a dozen yard waste bags. Thanks to everyone who participated!
