Who: Elizabeth C. Miller Library

What: Garden Lover's Book Sale

When: Friday, April 3rd from 5-8 pm, Preview Party. Saturday from 9 am - 3 pm, book sale. 

Where: Center for Urban Horticulture, 3501 NE 41st St.

Why: Select choice titles on garden design, plant selection, horticulture, edibles, and pest control and other subjects. Preview party on Friday include hors d’oeuvres and wine, tickets are $25. The book sale on Saturday is free to everyone. Visit their website for more details.

What: Bamboo workshop and garden tour

When: Saturday, April 4, 10 am - 3 pm

Where: 6000 16th Ave SW, directions

Why: Gardeners of all experience levels are welcome to attend a special work day organized in cooperation with the American Bamboo Society Northwest Chapter. See a demonstration of tools for pruning, tending, thinning, and mulching bamboo. Learn about the garden’s 13 varieties of bamboo and help construct a simple bamboo fence and or help with spring cleanup work in one of our bamboo groves. Special benefits: See early blooming tree peonies and enjoy a fun and educational afternoon in the garden setting.

What: Spring Ephemeral Plant Sale from the NW Horticultural Society.
Where: Center for Urban Horticulture, 3501 NE 41st St., Seattle, WA 98195
When: Saturday, March 7. 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Why: Benefits the Elizabeth C. Miller Library and over 20 nurseries to choose from. There's even a lecture at 10 a.m., Late Winter Treasures of the UW Botanic Gardens. Check their website for full details.
